STEALING CARS - (excerpt)

Updated: Apr 5

Checking for the animals one more time, he slowly opened the truck door. The beasts stayed on the driver’s side. His body prepared to move and he jumped out. Instantly, the dogs were alerted and started to run around the truck. Sean grabbed the handle of the car door and yanked it open. The barking turned to attacking snarls that Sean could feel reverberating in his neck. Leaping into the driver’s seat, he pulled the door hard. It bounced slightly open as it slammed onto one of the dog’s snouts. A loud yelp of pain filled the small space of the car. Sean’s hand still on the door, he jerked it closed. The second dog reared onto the side of the car next to his face, looking through the window and snapping. Its fangs and mouth oozing with saliva and foam. He flinched from the sudden jolt, but immediately felt the release of being in the safety of the car.

Sean had only taken several steps, but he was breathing like he just finished a two mile run. He peeked out for the other dog. It pawed at its face, blood dripping from its mouth and nose. Even in the current situation they were all facing, Sean couldn’t help but feel sorry for the animal. It was trying to do exactly what it was supposed to, stop him from stealing a car.
