We tend to place others into boxes.
A square peg must always fit a square hole.
Be like this or be like that,
There is no in between.
Be pressured into normality,
Or pushed into the opposite.
As long as they know where one stands,
They have meaning in the meaningless.
But what of those who don’t fit the box?
The ones who refuse to color within lines.
They bring unease because the mold is broken,
Although the mold was never existent.
Shall they conform for another’s comfort,
Yet causing discomfort within?
There is no harm in being different,
Nor fear for those unlike you.
If we weren’t threatened by the divergent,
We’d all find comfort outside the boxes.
